HistoryHistory

“Wellington Hamrick” is more than a company name, it’s the name of our founder and mentor. Wellie, as he was affectionately known, was an entrepreneur, inventor, and visionary whose ideas and concepts were turned into tangible, successful products and services that were able to satisfy customer demands. Essentially, he was always able to meet the needs of the customer, perhaps even before the customer realized they had a need. This type of pro-active forward thinking is something that lives today within the company and drives us to continue to be a leader in our field.

History In 1963, Wellington “Wellie” Hamrick opened the doors to a precast concrete business called Hamrick Precast, located in Boiling Springs, NC. Beginning with the production of pre-cast fallout shelters, Hamrick later went on to design, patent, manufacture and distribute a septic tank with an internal separation and distribution function. Throughout the region Hamrick was known for his unique tanks and his uncompromising standard of quality for on site septic systems. Incorporated in 1974, the company became Wellington Hamrick, Inc. With the introduction of Ready Mix services in 1985, Wellington Hamrick, Inc. began providing quality concrete not only to commercial, industrial, and highway construction projects, but residential customers as well.

Upon Hamrick’s retirement in 1989, his daughter Kitty Hamrick Hoyle took over leadership of the business. Since that time, Hoyle has automated Ready Mix concrete production and completed a 12,000 square foot production facility expansion which included new offices, an on-site concrete quality lab and precast division. Most recenlty in 2004, Wellington Hamrick opened a second Ready Mix location in Shelby, the area’s most modern facility. History
